Essam Youssef's realistic novel "1/4 Gram" is a brutally honest insider's account on Egypt's drug world.
Relying on events from real life, Salah the narrator in the novel tells the story of a group of friends who try a 1/4 gram for the first time during a party on New Year's Eve.

A film adaptation of "1/4 Gram" is scheduled to be released in 2009.

1/4 Gram has been No. 1 on the list of Arabic bestsellers.

The English translation of 1/4 Gram is in progress and is hoped to be published by the end of 2008.
